The MonsterVerse is just about ready to roar its way back onto our TV screens. Yep, that can only mean one thing: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 is almost upon us. The series, which focuses on the classic cinema Titans Godzilla and Kong (along with a host of other Titans exclusive to this franchise) returns after a two-year hiatus, launching on Apple TV imminently.

The first season received acclaim for featuring human characters with real substance - something the films within the franchise have struggled with - while also finding a way to successfully bridge the gaps between 2014's Godzilla and 2018's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It managed to do that by even featuring the King of the Monsters himself on-screen multiple times! And now, it looks to do it all again with the sophomore season.

With all of that in mind, let's dive into when exactly you can watch the premiere. There might actually be a surprise in store for you, too!

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 episode 1 release date and exact time

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 is currently set for release on Apple TV on Friday, February 27. However, it's expected to debut a little earlier than that, as the Apple TV streaming service is known for releasing new episodes of its shows the night before their official release dates. What to expect from the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 premiere

It's safe to say that the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was a surprise, so we should expect it to recreate that success this time around. While the first season leaned heavily on Godzilla due to its proximity to the events of the King of the Monsters' 2014 film, the second will officially introduce Kong to the fray - marking his earliest present-day appearance in the franchise (Kong: Skull Island is set in the 1970s while Godzilla x Kong is set post-Monarch season 2).

Godzilla will still appear, however, as confirmed by the season 2 trailer, meaning that there will still be plenty of larger-than-life visuals from both iconic movie monsters. However, they won't be the only larger-than-life figures in this season, as a new threat known as Titan X rears its head. And with that Cate, Kentaro, May, Keiko, Hiroshi, Tim, Deputy Director Natalia Verdugo and the rest of our favorites at Monarch will have a lot to juggle - which should come as no surprise to viewers of this show.

But what about Kurt Russell's Lee Shaw? The last time we saw him, he stayed behind at Axis Mundi - falling back into the Abyss as Keiko and Cate escaped the alternate dimension. We know that Russell - both Kurt and Wyatt - is back in the mix this season, so we haven't seen the last of the legend. The question is: Will he be able to find his way back to the surface and stop Titan X (along with perhaps the help of Kong or Godzilla)? We'll have to wait and see - but we are so ready to find out!
