There is more than one new Marvel show on Disney Plus this month
2024 has been quite the year to be a Marvel fan. Marvel Studios staged one heck of a comeback with a cinematic phenomenon in Deadpool and Wolverine (which went on to become this year's second-highest-grossing film), Golden Globe-nominated and critically-acclaimed Disney Plus series Agatha All Along, Emmy-nominated and acclaimed X-Men '97, and the fan-favorite, epic Echo. Meanwhile, Sony have delivered three entries in their own Marvel universe, with Madame Web, Venom: The Last Dance, and Kraven the Hunter.
While those three movies have been the subject of a lot of discussion, Venom 3 certainly generated a lot of its own buzz and ended the trilogy on an entertaining note, reinforcing the fact that it's a big year to be a Marvel fan.
The good news is that there are more Marvel adventures that will still arrive before the end of the year. You probably know that What If...? season 3 is coming but it isn't the only Marvel series to make its presence felt on the Disney Plus streamer this month.
What If...? season 3 and Spidey And His Amazing Friends arrive on Disney Plus this month
It's true. The third and final season of Marvel's What If...? will premiere on Disney Plus this Christmastime, with the first episode arriving on Sunday, December 22. A new episode will then premiere daily throughout the next seven days (just as it did last year), entertaining us all throughout the festive season. However, if you don't want to wait until the holidays for some animated Marvel adventures, you'll be glad to know that What If...? season 3 isn't the only Marvel show you can check out on the streamer.
New episodes of Season 3 of Spidey And His Amazing Friends also arrived on Disney Plus this month, premiering all five episode on December 4. Yes, that means you can dive right into it and catch up on all the adventures in the beloved kid-friendly series. In fact, there's even a Christmas episode for you to check out. That's right, the most recent episode of the series added to the streamer is a special double adventure consisting of episodes "A Snow Day For Aunt May" and "Hanukkah Heist".
Spidey And His Amazing Friends may not be set in the MCU, but it is produced by Marvel Studios Animation (and has been since the second season) to air on Disney Jr. prior to its worldwide release on Disney Plus. These new episodes initially aired on Disney Jr. throughout the fall and have now joined the rest of the season on the streamer.
So, if you're in the mood for some of Spider-Man's most enjoyable adventures, you can check out the new episodes of this one. And it will certainly come in handy for Spider-Man fans, because it will entertain all of them as they eagerly await upcoming new animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (which premieres on the Disney Plus platform on January 29, 2025). Also produced by Marvel Studios Animation, it is MCU-adjacent and will show us Peter Parker's early years as the webslinger.
So, as you prepare for the holidays and the New Year, sit back and relax, and enjoy the fun that Marvel has to offer. If it's the MCU-adjacent adventures that rear themselves in the many universes in What If...? season 3 or the light-hearted escapades of Spidey And His Amazing Friends, the new Marvel stories on Disney Plus are sure to be festive favorites.
What If...? season 3 premieres on Disney Plus on December 22.
