Soon after Kamala Khan died in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 26, she was resurrected on Krakoa (Hellfire Gala, 2023). The Krakoan Resurrection Protocols are normally reserved for mutants, and that was the case here. Because, unbeknownst to the world (and Kamala), Ms. Marvel is a mutant as well as an Inhuman.
Kamala didn’t have access to her mutant abilities because her Inhuman powers kicked in first. If dying and learning she's a mutant wasn't enough, she almost died again (read Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace for more on that) because The Five didn't take her Inhuman DNA into account. Thankfully, she was saved by Medusa and Karnak when they exposed her to the Terrigen Mists. That was the last we heard about Ms. Marvel's abilities until 2025's Giant Size X-Men No. 1.

During the trip to the past, Kamala battles Legion when the first new group of X-Men fought Krakoa (this happens in the original Giant Size X-Men). Unlike the Legion from the present, they were no longer connected to David Haller. Whatever happened to Legion in the future forced them to attempt to stop the Krakoan age from occurring, and a future they want to prevent (what it is remains unclear).
In the middle of their battle, Kamala’s skin shone and had diamond shapes on it. This was the first time her mutant powers manifested, and they looked similar to her abilities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now we have to wonder if this is something she’ll be able to control, if it was a one-time thing, and if her mutant powers manifesting will cause her to die slowly.

What's next for Ms. Marvel?
It was only a matter of time before Kamala Khan’s power looked like its counterpart in the MCU. When something works on TV shows and movies, it’s usually adapted in the comics. It’s not like her abilities are much different anyway. The difference is that adopting her MCU abilities would make her more durable. That means she’ll probably end up fighting more powerful villains to make sure she doesn’t look overpowered.
On the other hand, we still don’t know the effect her mutant powers are having on her physically. Using her mutant abilities could still conflict with her Inhuman DNA. If that’s the case, then she will have to use her other powers sparingly or risk becoming a pile of goo.
Furthermore, we don’t know if she will continue to be a hero. At the beginning of 2025’s Giant Size X-Men, Kamala was saying to her friend Bruno that it may be “Ms. Marvel no more.” She’s worried about how her family will react to her being both Ms. Marvel and a mutant. Because of that, she says she’d rather keep her superpower life a secret and stop being a hero. While that’s unlikely, we can guess there are major changes coming.
