Big leaks are normally met with a lot of excitement by fans. We all remember living through the Spider-Man: No Way Home era, when set pictures showcasing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parkers next to Tom Holland made their way online. Similarly, the trailers for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War were viewed by the whole world earlier than anticipated. Even Marvel Cinematic Universe actors themselves have spoiled surprises ahead of time, and these reveals are usually welcomed by the community. However, this is not one of those instances.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be the wall-crawler's biggest movie ever made. Excitement levels are at an all-time high, and the whole world is eager to learn what surprises lie in store. After all, the film's first trailer broke the record for being the fastest-ever to earn one billion views, showcasing just how much anticipation there is for the upcoming MCU movie.

Everyone has been waiting for a new Brand New Day trailer, and rumors had it that Sony intended to release it soon. However, the footage leaked ahead of time, and fans are furious that the surprise was ruined.

Fans fear the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer leak could push its official release back

Multiple sources have reported that the tickets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day would go on sale on June 17, and to celebrate the occasion, Sony intended to release a new trailer on that very same day. However, this anticipated look at the film leaked online ahead of time, and fans are now worried that Sony will push the actual release back.

Reactions to the leak itself have been extremely negative. For starters, the footage is of very low quality, which means it can't be properly enjoyed. Furthermore, people are angry about the fact that the official HD release was just around the corner. User phersh on X (formerly Twitter) posted: "Why couldn't you guys not leak this? The trailer was going to come out soon. No one should have had this."

Fans now fear the trailer will be delayed, with a user writing, "And now the trailer will be delayed an extra 2 weeks," and another one sharing, "To the people who leaked the Brand New Day trailer- good job! You probably delayed the actual trailer release because they have to come up with a new one. At the same time, you're risking people's jobs."

Sony started issuing multiple DMCA takedowns, with many accounts even being suspended for sharing the trailer. Meanwhile, multiple fans have started silencing keywords to avoid watching the footage, especially since it will reportedly be officially released in just a week now, at the time of writing this.

Given that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in under two months, it seems unlikely that Sony will shift its entire marketing schedule due to the leak. After all, the DMCA takedowns should ensure that the footage isn't seen by more people. However, the best course of action is definitely to wait until an official release comes our way, not only to watch it in HD quality and without any big watermarks, but also for the sake of the VFX artists who work tirelessly to bring it to life.

The very first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day had to be remade after it leaked online, and VFX artists had to work overtime (and even on weekends) to deliver it on time. One of the unfortunate side effects of this was that some shots didn't have the best CGI. That means the overall enjoyment was toned down both for fans and the people who work on the film.

With a bit of luck, it won't be long before the official trailer comes our way and we get a good (and HD) look at the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
