When The Batman came out, it was a game-changer for DC. The tone was grim. The script was spectacular. The characters were beyond expectations. It defied everyone's belief in yet another Batman actor and film performing well.
The movie was spectacular leaving fans clamoring for more from the mercurial mind of Matt Reeves. Then, Max released The Penguin, which actually upped the titanic ante for critics. They couldn't avoid the talent of Colin Farrell and that dynamic script from Reeves.
Farrell's apoplectic portrayal of Oz Cobb was undeniable, earning him Critics' Choice, Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG for Best Actor. Then, AFI gave it TV Program of the Year honors. Of course, we need more!
That has been the plan with The Batman: Part II said to be coming, but it seems that Matt Reeves may have left The Batman: Part II.

The much-anticipated sequel is still two years out (more on that in a second), and now we have a rumor that halt any more circling the date on a calendar.
It was a day like any other day, when The InSneider himself ruined it for everyone.
Upon reading the small print, there is no Matt Reeves included in the production slate for the movie. Yes, no Matt Reeves in his chair! Geoff Johns, present. James Gunn, accounted for. There are producers, director of photography, cast, and even writers, which does include Reeves. Conspicously, there is no director listed.
What the HUSH, Batman?!
Originally set to release in late 2025, The Batman: Part II has been victimized by a comedy of errors, leaving no one laughing in its wake. The movie was delayed until October 2026, when production was not scheduled to begin. That followed two shifts of the October 2025 release date in 2023. Then, it was bumped again to October 2027. That's a full eight years after "Battinson" was named the lead role and a chasm of 5.5 years between films.
It's always been about the script. Matt Reeves carries a big stick on the set as director and co-writer. He knows what he wants, so when Warner Bros. shares that the movie is being delayed because they can't get the script right, the world waits. It's Matt Reeves, the wunderkind behind the Cloverfield franchise and the successful reboot of The Planet of the Apes.
Rumors on the Warner Bros. lot leak like a sieve. Somehow, the world doesn't know much about the plot; this heavily contested script has caused two delays (and two years of life). or even the characters. One thing is abundantly clear: No one knows what is happening!
Well, Xwitter handle @DCFilmNews might.
Add to this that The Penguin: Season 2 isn't currently in the works, and it's mass hysteria in the Reeves' Emo universe. Hopefully, the rumor mill will stop spinning and Warner Bros. helps course correct, but one problem.
That's asking Warner Bros. to come to the rescue, and that rarely turns out well.
