HBO Max's Peacemaker held nothing back with its previous episode. The show is well into its second season now, so its known for its ambitiousness (and over the top nature) and yet it still managed to surprise audiences around the world with the jaw-dropping reveal that brought Christopher Smith's world crashing down... again.
The Peacemaker was hoping to find life anew in the parallel dimension within his father's interdimensional chamber, but it actually turned out to be hell on earth. It turns out that the new earth Chris, Harcourt, Adrian, Economos, and Adebayo found themselves on was Earth-X - which DC Comics fans know is the earth in which the Nazis won World War II.
With the lives of his loved ones - and the potential future of the DC Universe - at stake, it's up to Chris to figure out how to get back to his own world and ensure that the threats of this new one don't come after him. Can he pull that off? Well, that's something that the most recent episode, "Like A Keith In The Night", looks to explore.
Peacemaker season 2 episode 7 doesn't hold back
Chris is obviously still reeling after learning the truth about Earth-X, and it doesn't help that the life of Harcourt could be in imminent danger due to the other Emilia calling for her arrest. But nobody's life is in more danger than Adebayo's as she's chased through the streets by an angry mob simply because she's a Woman of Color.
Judomaster successfully saves Adebayo, feeling sorry for her as she's outmatched by the mob and nobody should suffer that kind of fate. The two become friends and bond over scrabble (or "scrobble" as it's called in this universe) as they wait for nightfall. Meanwhile, Chris and Harcourt escape A.R.G.U.S. only to be apprehended by Keith and August. In a surprising turn of events, August is quite understanding and believes that Chris meant no harm; he simply wants them to go back to their world and never return. Keith on the other hand isn't so forgiving.

The two Vigilantes attack August unbeknownst to them that he's quite understanding and stab him in the neck, which sends Keith into a violent rage. He attacks Chris, unable to forgive him for all that he brought to their door. However, he's quickly overpowered by Eagly, the two Vigilantes, Harcourt and Adebayo. In horror at the sight of his seemingly dying brother, Peacemaker screams at them to stop and cradles Keith in his arms, apologizing - blaming himself for everything.
As they leave the dimension, Harcourt attempts to shoot Keith because she "can't have him coming after" Chris, but the authorities arrive and she's unable to do so. And that makes it clear that Keith will be back for revenge. He'll have a hard time getting to Chris though as he surrendered himself to Rick Flag Sr. as soon as he left Vigilante's house, handing over the device under the condition that the others can go for "convincing him to come back". Judomaster, in a moment of finally understanding why Adebayo was friends with him, backed him up.
Where do we go from here? (And what will happen to Keith?)
This is the point that Peacemaker season 2 has been building to all along, and not just because it's the season finale. Christopher Smith has surrendered himself to A.R.G.U.S. officially and now he's on his way to prison. What does that mean for his future? Well, his friends will obviously try to find a way to free him, but for Chris this is a sentencing that he clearly feels that he deserves.
He blames himself for all of the death and destruction that has come from his life and perhaps surrendering to the law is his way of atoning for that once and for all. However, he's going to struggle finding peace, because it's pretty clear that Keith is on his way back to that dimension - or at least he will be when he recovers.

Although it appeared as though Keith may have been dying, he was left alive. Harcourt attempted to kill him to avoid him coming after Chris, but the arrival of the FBI prevented her from pulling the trigger. Now, he's being packed into the back of an ambulance, angrier than ever. Not only has the arrival of the other Peacemaker cost Keith his version of Chris, it has seemingly cost him his father August, too.
Revenge is on its way to the DC Universe and it could very well take place in the season 2 finale. Flag has always been worried about the threats another world could pose and they all might find that out in full force next week if Keith shows up for vengeance. Either way, this isn't over and the Peacemaker season 2 finale is about to be huge!
How huge, you ask? Well, the season 2 finale trailer sees Team Peacemaker exploring some of the many alternate worlds through the interdimensional portal (with A.R.G.U.S. closely monitoring it) and let's just say there are some unforgettable sights behind that magical door.
The season finale of Peacemaker season 2 streams on HBO Max next Thursday, October 9, at 9/8c.
