9. Elektra

Jennifer Garner was an excellent addition to 2003's Daredevil movie, playing quite the wild card as Elektra. The character's return in her own film just two years later was... unexpected.

First thing's first: Elektra died in Daredevil. While the idea of resurrection isn't alien to comic books, the notion that she be revived for her own adventure didn't exactly sit well with audiences. Why wouldn't she make some time to reach out her loved ones? Why not check in on Matt Murdock? Because standalone sequels that didn't need to happen still happened in 2005.

Needless to say Elektra wasn't well-received. Critics felt the script was lacking, particularly when it came to dialogue, as it failed to offer up a worthy adventure for the revived character, and others felt that its tone was all over the place. The one silver lining in all of it, however, was Garner, who received praise for her performance in spite of the limitations of what she was working with.

All in all, fans didn't like Elektra because it couldn't muster a story worthy enough to justify its own existence. If it had, we wouldn't be talking about it on this list. And this is coming from someone who loves the character and Garner's portrayal of her.
