Love is in the air and even superheroes deserve a happy ending. But which superhero movies are the most romantic of them all, and how do they stack up to each other?

Valentine's Day is upon us and that presents us with the perfect opportunity to appreciate what is perhaps the most underappreciated aspect of superhero movies: Love.

Yes, even superheroes have love stories. They may dress up in extravagant outfits and go out into the streets and universes (and even space) to fight crime, but they are also people who long for someone to come home to at the end of a long working day (or someone they can fight crime alongside).

Romance has been a constant in superhero movies from the very beginning. From the more subtle nods, references, and winks in the classic days of the genre to an era where we can have full shows devoted to a couple's love, you don't have to look far to find your favorite superhero love stories. And yet, we don't appreciate just how important a role these love stories play in certain heroes' lives.

On that note, let's take this opportunity to look back on the superhero genre and celebrate some of the most romantic movies it has to offer. We'll also be ranking them based on how romantic they are. That means that some of the not-so-well-received movies might end up a bit higher than some excellent ones if the romance aspect was stronger. Hey, we like to keep things exciting here!
