3. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Now before all the MCU fans jump in; no, I don't think The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a better movie than the two previous Spider-Man movies we discussed. This ranking is based on how romantic they are and, as much as I hate to put this movie up this high, it was incredibly romantic (well, until... you know).

This film sees Gwen Stacy at a crossroads in her life. Does she stay in New York City with her beloved Peter or move away, study, and see the world? It's the classic love or career trope and it plays into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so well because of the absolutely out-of-this-world chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Peter and Gwen are made for each other and it's such a delight watching their scenes together because they are so warm, endearing, and beautiful. In fact, their scenes are the greatest of the whole movie, making up for the overcrowded yet underbaked plot that the rest of the film struggles with.

The scene between the two on top of a bridge is just like a shot of serotonin. Watching the two so madly in love with each other makes your heart burst and it ultimately makes the way that the movie pans out all the more frustrating. I struggle with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for this reason, because it has lightning in a bottle in Peter and Gwen's relationship, and it's worth the watch for that alone. But you'd probably best stop before you reach the end.
