10. Thor

It's odd watching Thor back because, in many ways, it doesn't really feel like an MCU movie. Sure, it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and goes quite a long way in furthering the early chapter of the Infinity Saga, but it's very unlike what the MCU was and what it would become. What I mean by that is that it very much feels like a superhero movie of the early 2000s, leaning more into the fantasy of it - and, of course, more into the romance. In fact, it's basically a romcom.

Most of Thor is spent on Thor attempting to reclaim the powers that his father Odin took from him. He only does so when he proves himself to be worthy of them, and he only does that when he sacrifices himself to save Jane Foster and her loved ones. A previously arrogant Asgardian god became selfless because of love.

The Thor and Jane Foster romance is silly, over-the-top, and again very 2000s, but it works incredibly well in the movie. She is so perplexed by this seemingly sweet man who is convinced that he is actually a god that she agrees to do crazy things in the hope that he might prove her theory about there being more beyond the stars. And he is intrigued by the complexity of humanity, seeing that there is much more to humans because of his growing feelings for her.

If you're looking for a light-hearted love story set against the backdrop of a small town invaded by gods, Thor is the movie for you!
