5. Gyutaro (Upper Moon Six)

Gyutaro, the infamous Upper Moon Six and one of the demons who lives rent-free in my memories (along with his sister, Daki) lands at number 5, and does he have a story that's a cocktail of dread and despair with a twist of tragedy.

Picture this: a character who's like that one blender you own that's too good at its job - except instead of turning fruits into smoothies, Gyutaro turns dreams into nightmares. His viciousness is unmatched; he's the kind of guy who wouldn't just rain on your parade but unleash a hurricane on it. With scythes for hands and a grin that'd give the Boogeyman nightmares, he's a terror in a haori, slicing through demon slayers with the ease of a hot knife through butter.

But here's the twist in the tale - Gyutaro's life story is the kind that would make even the coldest hearts melt a little. Born into the slums, his life was a never-ending episode of Survivor: The Underworld Edition, where every day was a fight to just see the next sunrise. His backstory adds layers to his character like an onion, making you cry the more you peel. This concoction of ferocity mixed with a dash of heart-wrenching past places him at a curious spot on the dislike scale.

Fans, myself very much included, often find themselves in a love-hate tango with him - they abhor his actions but can't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for the circumstances that brewed this storm. Thus, Gyutaro, with his blend of ruthlessness and tragic roots, secures his position as a mid-tier villain in the grand scheme of things, making us question if we dislike him or just the choices he's made.
