4 more MCU characters who definitely won't be back in Phase Five

Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will feature many major characters but don't be expecting to see these guys return.

2. Tom Holland's Spider-Man

Fear not Spidey fans; Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in the MCU. After the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, that is inevitable, and Sony and Marvel are reportedly working out the logistics of making that happen in the near-future. Unfortunately, it won't be happening in Phase Five.

Even if production started on a potential Spider-Man 4 within the next few months, the MCU would have moved on to Phase Six by the time it got released. Now this is probably the point where you tell us that he doesn't need his own movie to make an appearance in Phase Five, and you'd be right. After all, we first saw Spidey in Captain America: Civil War. But that was a different time. Now, Spidey is out on his own defending his neighborhood in New York and the Avengers have no memory of who he is. He's on his own, and thus that limits any potential appearances for the foreseeable. And as that is an arc in and of itself, we probably won't see the character again until his fourth movie.

Phase Five will feature the standalone animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man but that unfortunately won't feature Tom Holland voicing the role, it isn't canon to the MCU, and thus it won't carry on the story of the Spidey we know and love.
