5 characters who could die in The Boys season 4 finale
By Liam Clark
The Boys is no stranger to violence and death, with many characters (super-powered or not) being killed off in the series. From characters only making a single appearance or small appearances such as Webweaver or characters that have been there since the beginning of the series, such as the original Black Noir, there have been many characters that have met their demise.
With season 4 almost wrapped up and a number of key storylines at play, there are a number of ways the season could wrap up. With the Boys attempting to stop an assassination attempt on the President, there is likely to be some conflict along the way. The previous episode, "The Insider," concluded with a lot of questions and a lot of different characters seemingly in peril.
From superheroes, politicians, and members of the Boys themselves, there are many characters who could likely bite the bullet by the time season 4 concludes.
Victoria Neuman
Let's start with the obvious contender. The main mission for the Boys this season has been trying to find a way to kill Vice President Victoria Neuman, which has been unsuccessful so far. However, with the supe-killing virus that Frenchie and Sameer created coming into play, it seems the Boys may have another crack at taking out Neuman.
While she is the obvious candidate, given her role in the series and potentially having a number of different players out to get her, including The Boys, the CIA, and potentially Homelander, it would be no surprise to see Victoria meet her end by season's end.
The only doubt this occurs would be that killing her off would be a very predictable move for the series. However, with Homelander looking to overthrow the government and the Boys out to get her, it seems that Neuman's days are numbered.
Starlight
Starlight has been a major player since the beginning of the series. From wanting to be a superhero and a member of the Seven, she made a lot of enemies by leaving Vought and joining the Boys. She has become the face of the anti-Vought and anti-Homelander movement, which has painted a massive target on her back.
With Homelander becoming more unhinged as the series goes along, especially with the recent betrayal from A-Train and the loss of his advisor Sister Sage, this could see Homelander take things into his own hands and start taking out his enemies.
The ending of "The Insider" also puts Starlight in a dangerous situation, as she has been replaced by a shapeshifter. Starlight is last seen chained by her arms to the ground in an unknown location, with no one knowing she has been replaced.
A-Train
Another former member of The Seven that painted a major target on their back this season is A-Train. While we have seen glimpses of A-Train eventually betraying Homelander and Vought during the past few seasons, he has finally turned to the side of The Boys this season.
A-Train has been in cahoots with Mother's Milk the entirety of the current season, putting his safety at risk by leaking information to The Boys to help them take down Vought. The speedster seems to genuinely want to turn over a new leaf, even saving Hughie's and Mother's Milk's lives in different episodes.
His big moment came in the previous episode, where he comes to the aid of Starlight and Butcher in their fight against the Deep and Black Noir II, ultimately revealing himself as the leak Vought has been trying to locate.
He saved the Boys from being taken out by the Supes, and seemingly escaped any punishment by removing his tracking chip and escaping with his family. However, that ending for the character seems anticlimactic and it seems likely that is not the last we see of A-Train.
Based on his conversation with Mother's Milk, A-Train enjoys being a real hero and does not want to stop battling Vought until the mission is over. This could likely lead to a confrontation with former teammate Homelander, which would not end well for A-Train.
Homelander
This seems like the least likely of the choices, but hear me out. Homelander's last stand in the comics was when he overthrew the White House and was eventually taken out by Butcher. This is likely to play out differently than the comic version, especially considering there will not be a Homelander vs Black Noir clone Homelander battle; however, with Butcher's motivation being to create a virus to destroy Homelander and the season eventually leading to a confrontation between the pair and Ryan, we could see either Butcher or Ryan kill Homelander and stop his reign of terror before he is able to enact his crazy plan to enslave people and overthrow the government.
While there is still a fifth and final season to come after the upcoming episode, the shocking demise of Homelander could allow the series to focus on Butcher's heel turn and have the final season play out like the comic series where an unhinged Butcher takes on the Boys.
Billy Butcher
Speaking of Butcher, the entire series has focused on his decline both mentally and physically. The audience has known that Butcher's time is running out, with the side effects of the temporary Compound V he took last season resulting in Butcher only having six months to live.
Butcher has been declining all season, with blackouts, hallucinations of people from his past, and physical struggles, it seems like the end is near. The previous episode ended with Butcher passing out in a bar, meaning that his tumor may have finally caught up with the leader of the Boys.
While this blackout could be the result of his death, the season finale could also see Butcher die in a final showdown with Homelander while trying to protect Ryan. Butcher could even survive the episode and be a key player in the final season. However, with his current condition and the season focusing heavily on time being a factor for Butcher, it would not be surprising to see the next episode being his last.
