6 Marvel cameos we wish happened in Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine was a fantastic movie filled with cameos. But if we could've asked for even more, then these characters should've been on top of the list.

Deadpool & Wolverine was everything we could've expected from a Marvel Cinematic Universe project and more. Its titular heroes had great chemistry, the action sequences were fast-paced and bloody, and the soundtrack was out of this world. However, the movie's shocking cameos were responsible for elevating it to a whole new level.

Few things compared to going blind to the theater and finding out the likes of Johnny Storm, Blade, Elektra, Gambit, and more made a surprise appearance. So, by all means, we're more than satisfied with what Shawn Levy, Ryan Renolds, Hugh Jackman, and the rest of the Marvel crew created with this jaw-dropping blockbuster. But if we were to be bold and ask for even more wild cameos, then a few characters quickly pop into mind.

So it's time to break down who else we missed in Deadpool & Wolverine!

Storm and Cyclops

Prior to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, multiple rumors indicated some actors would reprise their roles as beloved X-Men characters on the big screen. For weeks, it was reported that Cyclops would be among them, and James Marsden's comments also added fuel to that fire. When he was asked if he was going to wear the X-Men suit once again, the American actor said "We just wrapped [Sonic 3] actually. We were near the Deadpool stages up there in Pinewood actually. Yeah, this is a little bit of a Pandora's box".

Come on. How was that not a definite confirmation that his character was going to return? It was more surprising to see he was missing in the movie after that statement, to be honest.

On that same page, it was heavily rumored that Storm would also have a role in Deadpool & Wolverine. Besides, actress Halle Berry also uploaded a picture to Instagram sporting Storm's signature white hair. So of course, we all were convinced she'd have some sort of cameo... which ultimately wasn't the case.

While Storm and Cyclops were definitely missed in Deadpool & Wolverine, their presence could've risked making the movie a little too crowded. So perhaps their absence was for the best.

Charles Xavier and Magneto

Before we begin, it's important to clarify that - while neither Professor X nor Magneto appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine - the movie did reference them both in some capacity. Cassandra Nova was using the wheelchair of Charles Xavier in The Void (as they happen to be twins) while Deadpool hoped for a slight moment that Magneto could also join X-23's army of heroes. But while the iconic supervillain was in The Void with Laura Kinney at some point, Cassandra was quick to eliminate him out-of-screen. Unfortunately, that means none of these two iconic characters made it into the final cut of the movie.

When you think of popular X-Men characters, chances are Magneto and Charles are somewhere on the top of that list. So it would've been nice to see them one more time before finally paying our farewells to the Fox Marvel universe. After all, both characters had a very important role in almost all X-Men movies up until this point. So it would've been fitting to see Sir Ian Murray McKellen and Patrick Stewart return to their respective roles for Deadpool & Wolverine.

While that didn't turn out to be the case, chances are the MCU will make use of these iconic characters when the new version of the X-Men are finally introduced to the big screen.

Doctor Strange

Can you blame us for truly believing Doctor Strange would make a not-so-surprising appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine? After all, the movie trailers revealed the involvement of his iconic magic portals. So who else but the soon-to-be Sorcerer Supreme to make them appear? Well, it turns out that it was Cassandra all along.

The thing is; Stephen Strange is no stranger (bad pun intended) to have a supporting role in other MCU movies. He had a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok and played an important part in Spider-Man: No Way Home. So with that in mind, it would've been also nice to see a variant of him in The Void. Besides, it would've also made narrative sense considering his Sling Ring is what ultimately transports Logan and Wade Wilson out of the deserted land at the end of time.

Unfortunately, this cameo wasn't meant to be. But that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Doctor Strange as he currently is attempting to prevent an incursion alongside Clea. The only question remaining is; when and where will we see him next?

Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider making a surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine isn't just wishful thinking. Ryan Renolds revealed in an interview with Collider that Nicholas Cage was, at some point, in talks to make a return as the blazing hero:

"Yes, [things] came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no."

Ryan Renolds

While Ryan didn't reveal any more details about Ghost Rider's discarded role, we can assume he would've appeared in The Void alongside X-23, Elektra, Gambit, and Blade. So just imagine the fight scene between Cassandra's army and Marvel's pruned heroes but with Johnny Blaze in it. Come on, wouldn't it have been even more awesome than it already was?

While it's unclear why Nicholas Cage didn't appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, it can be speculated that Marvel wants to save his role for a bigger movie. After all, it's been rumored for quite a while that he'll have some role in Avengers: Secret Wars. So fingers crossed that actually turns out to be true!
