4. Tom Ellis

Tom Ellis might not be at the top of most fans' wishlists to play the next Batman, but he most certainly should be at the top of James Gunn's dream cast list!

In Lucifer, Ellis showcased just why he'd be perfect for the role of Batman. Ellis was able to effortlessly transition between charm and intensity, traits essential for portraying the complex layers of Bruce Wayne and his alter ego. Lucifer was a character torn between light and dark, reminiscent of Batman. He was charming and charismatic when he needed to be, but also not afraid to get his hands dirty and put up a fight to bring down wrongdoers.

Ellis's experience in portraying a character with a moral compass navigating morally ambiguous situations provides a solid foundation for the ethical complexities inherent in Batman's narrative. He'd be absolutely perfect in both unique personas which is something that many Batman actors have struggled with, with some perfectly playing Bruce Wayne and others being far better Batmans.

His physical presence and versatility as an actor make him well-suited for the demanding physicality of the Caped Crusader. Fans of both Lucifer and Batman can appreciate Ellis's potential to bring the much-needed layered performance to the iconic role, making him a compelling choice to don Batman's cape and cowl.
