Agatha All Along might not be the show we expected it to be

We knew that Agatha All Along would likely tear up the Marvel TV rulebook, but it also sounds like me might be watching it from behind a cushion.

To say that Agatha All Along has been a long time coming would be a major understatement. The Disney Plus series went through four title changes (that was turned into a genius marketing campaign) and multiple delays, but it finally comes our way this fall, arriving on the streamer in September.

The highly anticipated spin off from the very first Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney Plus series, the hit WandaVision, and it stars Kathryn Hann once again as everyone’s favorite witch Agatha Harkness, who masqueraded as Wanda Maximoff's Westview neighbour Agnes in the aforementioned series. Joining her in an ensemble cast is Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke and Patti LuPone. And now, it appears that the show could surprise us all in quite an unexpected way.

Agatha All Along could be scarier than we all thought

Up until this point, Agatha All Along has been teased to be a colorful adventure that might even be a musical, but now an exciting and intriguing update straight from the head of Marvel Studios TV and streaming Brad Winderbaum suggests that there is more to it than what it appears to be.

Speaking on The Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum reveals that the show is gonna lean in heavily to some horror elements and expand on the witchy world of the Marvel universe!

He shares how the show will still be fun for all but definitely have dangerous stakes and a more horror oriented approach, saying:

"It's really fun, but it's really scary and it gets quite dramatic. [Agatha] is an amazing anti-hero. [It] lures you in with the fun of Halloween and before you know it, you're crying too. "

This seems very promising for us horror fans and Marvel fans alike. It’s fantastic to see Marvel take risks like this to keep us engaged and bring in new audiences as well. We have seen how well they do playing with the horror genre as we saw in Disney Plus special Werewolf by Night, series Moon Knight and big-budget movie Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness (directed by horror legend Sam Raimi).

It sounds like Agatha All Along will successfully experiment with the genre, too. Just as WandaVision and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law played with the elements of comedy, this one looks set to bring a more thrilling tone with it, as Winderbaum suggests the experimentation here is that Agatha is "a Halloween show".

"[Agatha All Along] is Marvel's brand of scary. It's a Halloween show. there are deadly stakes in this series. It's a fun ride, but it's a dangerous one."

Actress Kathryn Hanh is no stranger to the genre and she has proven a strong performer in dramatic and engaging roles as well as keeping things light and fun. She was a standout in WandaVision, earning an Emmy nomination for her performance. There is no doubt that her return as Agatha Harkness will be as captivating as ever.

We don’t have to wait long to see this wonderful world of witches and dark magic once Agatha and her coven comes to our rescue as the coven will be making its presence felt on our screens this fall!
