Agatha All Along trailer breakdown: She's back, witches!
She's back! Everyone's favorite witchy wonder Agatha Harkness is returning to screens; but this time, she won't be the lovable supporting character who is secretly the villain. No, this time she'll be the lead of her own story.
Kathryn Hahn was quite possibly the MVP of Disney Plus' WandaVision, entertaining fans with her delightful performance as the nosy-but-friendly neighbor of Wanda and Vision named Agnes. And after weeks of speculation and fan theories, she revealed herself to be the all-powerful witch Agatha Harkness.
Now, Hahn stars in her own Disney Plus series. After two years of excitement and anticipation, Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for Agatha All Along, and it's also a delight.
Kathryn Hahn returns in bewitching Agatha All Along trailer
There is obviously a lot to digest from the first trailer for Agatha All Along, but the biggest takeaway from it is quite easily how captivating Kathryn Hahn is in the lead role. It won't surprise you if you've seen WandaVision (or pretty much every other project she has appeared in), but it's too important not to reference, for Hahn is very quickly a delight. We've come to know Agatha pretty well, but she's still very much a mystery to us, and the show looks to begin solving it, showing us a different side of the character.
Speaking of different sides, it seems like it's set to continuing exploring the more fantastical, supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We know that it will feature The Witches' Road, and through the mystifying trailer, it's clear that this is just scratching the surface when it comes to showcasing that element of the MCU. We've only gotten glimpses of this side of the saga through WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and now this will be the welcome next step in that movement.
It also provides us with our first looks at some of the ensemble cast, particularly Heartstopper's Joe Locke and Patti LuPone. Both big names for the MCU series, there is a lot of speculation that Locke is portraying a teenage version of Billy Maximoff, the son of Wanda and Vision who we previously met younger versions of on WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2. While the trailer doesn't outright confirm that, Locke will be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 10 for an episode that just so happens to be guest-hosted by Hahn herself. We will no doubt get more teases to the show then.
Speaking of Wanda, the trailer also implies that the character has indeed perished after her dark fate in Multiverse of Madness, as the body that "Detective Agnes" comes across in the woods is labelled W. Maximoff. Although, we know better than to trust that when it comes to the MCU.
Agatha All Along has been a rather thrilling mystery since its inception. Hahn's Emmy-nominated performance had fans calling for a spinoff pretty soon afterwards, but they were shocked when Marvel went ahead and greenlit it so soon. Its star-studded cast and rumored fantastical elements made audiences more intrigued by it, and that set the stage perfectly for the strange title antics, as the show continued to build momentum by constantly changing its own title, going from Agatha: House of Harkness to Agatha: Coven of Chaos to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries to the particularly peculiar Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe before finally settling on Agatha All Along.
