4. Haunted Mansion
With a cast made up of A-Listers including LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, and Jamie Lee Curtis, Disney's Haunted Mansion had the making to be one of the best movies of 2023. Sadly, it was one of the most disappointing movies instead.
While the movie's talented cast shined brightly in the movie, not even the talented ensemble was able to save this movie from flopping at the box office.
Yes, the movie is a fun blend of horror and comedy, but the problem is that the movie is neither scary nor funny... and honestly, it's not really the thrill ride Disney hoped it would be. Perhaps the problem is that we set the bar a bit too high, or perhaps it's that Disney couldn't make up its mind over what it wanted the film to be leading to a disappointing entry on the year.
It also didn't exactly help that the movie was released during the strikes which prevented the cast from helping to drum up positive press or even attend the world premiere. Still, we don't think promotion was the problem. The problem was the movie itself and we don't blame anyone for already forgetting this entry.
