3. Wish

Timed to Disney's 100th anniversary we have Wish, a new animated film that pulls inspiration from one of the company's most iconic quotes, "When you wish upon a star."

The film tells the story of Asha, a young woman who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a boundless ball of energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star team up in order to save the kingdom from King Magnifico in an ultimate underdog showdown which showcases the power that can come when tapping the courage within.

The movie is yet another beautiful offering from Disney that will tug at your heartstrings and is filled with fun new characters and songs that we fell in love with. Still, it does come a bit short of attaining the same level of magic that we've come to expect from Disney's biggest hits.

While we appreciate the nostalgia Wish brings up, when you compare it to the other movies that came out this year, it just didn't capture the same magic as the others on our list. That doesn't mean we don't recommend checking the movie out as it is most certainly worth watching when it arrives on Disney+ in the new year.
