24. Human Target (2010 - 2011)

It's honestly quite surprising that, of all the DC characters out there, Human Target got to star in two TV shows. That means he headlined more live-action shows than Batman. Think that one over.

The second attempt was a much more successful one, as the Fox series was able to lean into the action a lot more than its predecessor; which isn't surprising given that action is something television did far better in the 2010s than it did in the 1990s. It was also a lot funnier than you might think, which again works really well in action procedurals.

This one also shied away from the character's existence in the DC Universe, which is pretty ironic considering that in just four to five years, DC superheroes would be everywhere on network TV. It's a shame that Human Target never got the chance to see that as it was cancelled after a divisive second season relaunch and in spite of some pretty consistent ratings.

I would have loved to have seen what the superhero TV lanscape would have looked like if this show was still going strong. Cancelling it so soon feels like a choice that Fox might have retroactively regretted when everybody wanted a superhero series just a few short years later.
