Like all phases in the MCU, Phase 4 was not without a few questionable entries including a handful of films which many fans put at the bottom of their MCU movie rankings. However, Phase 4 is one that saw Marvel taking bold risks and introducing some of its most unique and ambitious projects ever as the most expansive phase the MCU has seen to date.
When it comes to the Phase 4 movies, Marvel had more misses than hits in this particular phase but the few hits it did have were truly spectacular.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a breathtaking spectacle with some of the greatest sequences Marvel has ever delivered. Black Widow finally gave Natasha Romanoff her time in the spotlight with a standalone film that was fantastic. Angela Bassett did the thing, stealing the show in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever giving a masterful performance that landed Marvel its first Golden Globe win for an acting performance. And then there was Spider-Man: No Way Home which brought the three Spider-Men of the Spider-Verse together in a crossover film which was nearly 20 years in the making.
Then there were Marvel Studios' first official MCU-set Disney+ original series. Phase 4 saw the release of eight incredible series as well as two standout specials that celebrated so many unique genres and corners of the MCU.
Each of the shows released in Phase 4 were incredible in their own regard, but it's WandaVision that truly stole the show. The series was unlike anything Marvel had ever done before and gave two long underutilized characters their well-earned time in the spotlight. The show was a beautiful depiction of grief and was truly one of Marvel's finest hours yet.
As a whole, Phase 4 is one of Marvel's strongest collections ever and deserves to be celebrated as one of the best the MCU has produced.
