1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Less than a decade after making his debut in the pages of Marvel Comics, Miles Morales made his big screen debut in Sony's Oscar-winning animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The film tells the origin story of Brooklyn teen Miles Morales who must stop Kingpin from breaking the fabric of reality and must take the place of his universe's Spider-Man after Peter Parker is killed by Kingpin and Miles is bitten by a radioactive spider that gives him his superhuman abilities. Thanks to Kingpin's Super Collider malfunctioning with Spider-Man's DNA in the beams, a wave of Spider-People from across the Spider-Verse are brought together to accompany Miles on his mission and help him find his footing as New York's newest heroes.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is like nothing we'd ever seen before! It's like comic book pages come to life through streams of vibrant colors and dynamic action sequences. Seriously, it's a feast for the eyes and it is the most visually stunning film to have ever graced the big screen. But it's not just the visuals that make it shine.
The story is top-notch, introducing us to different versions of Spider-Man from across the multiverse and finally bringing Miles Morales to the big screen. Finally, we had a Spider-Man who represented diversity and inclusion in a genre often dominated by one perspective. Miles brought a new dimension to the Spider-Man legacy, inspiring countless individuals who longed to see themselves reflected in their heroes.
It's fresh, it's fun, and it's packed with heart. Trust me, if you're a Spidey fan, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an absolute must-watch and is by Sony's greatest achievement!
