With the Thunderbolts movie confirmed to have started shooting on Monday, Feb. 26, in Trilith Studios and Atlanta Metro Studios, most recently Bad Education star, Geraldine Viswanathan celebrated receiving the role that belonged to Ayo Edebiri.

The Aussie native from Newcastle, New South Wales, of Tamil Indian and Swiss descent made her big break in 2018 starring in the sexy comedy, Blockers, she then went on to be cast in the Netflix film The Package and Hala, centered on a Pakistani-American Muslim girl struggling with family values, which went onto be screened at Sundance and streamed on Apple TV+.

Viswanathan replaced The Bear’s Edebiri due to scheduling conflicts with the triple-threat performer whose role has not been revealed. As rumors persist that this role Viswanathan is taking over for could be Songbird, Jolt, or Moonstone all we know is she is the assistant to the director of the CIA, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is working with both Yelena Belova and John Walker/US Agent described to be an all-new character named “Erin” in the MCU. A comedic supporting role.

Despite who or what the role may be, Viswanathan could not be more than ecstatic as when speaking to Comicbook.com she said: “I’ve always wanted to join the universe in whatever capacity, and this came up.” She called the opportunity “Destiny” and she was “very excited”.

Lewis Pullman famously replaced Beef and Invincible star, Steven Yeun, in the role of Sentry. This was again caused by scheduling conflicts due to the actors' strike last year.

Thunderbolts stars Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Olga Kurylenko, David Harbour, Harrison Ford, and Lewis Pullman.

Jake Schreier is directing from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo. Kevin Feige is producing for Marvel Studios under Walt Disney Studios.

Thunderbolts is expected to hit cinemas May 2, 2025.
