Batman: All 5 Dick Grayson actors ranked from worst to best
2. Burt Ward
Appeared in: Batman (1966 - 1968), Batman: The Movie, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Batman vs. Two-Face
Undoubtedly the most famous actor to take on the role of the Boy Wonder, Burt Ward played Robin in the legendary 1966 Batman TV series. The show was a game-changer all-around, but it was also quite game-changing for Robin as it redefined the character, portraying the Caped Crusader's ally and friend as a more comedic, light-hearted character who was as known for his "Holy something, Batman!" exclamations as he was for his bright and colorful outfit.
Burt Ward did a wonderful job of playing Dick Grayson, too. He had a way of grabbing your attention whenever he was on-screen as Robin, but he delivered a more subtle performance when he wasn't wearing the suit. He was quiet a lot of the time, taking mental notes of what Bruce was saying and pondering it like a child would when a parent was sharing some words of wisdom with them. This also speaks to the chemistry between Ward and Adam West, who are still the best Robin/Batman pairing the screen has ever seen.
It's no coincidence that Burt Ward's portrayal of Robin is still the most iconic of them all, but we shouldn't forget the work he did as Dick Grayson either. The nuance wasn't always in the storylines, but it was ever-present in Ward's performance. He played all aspects of the young hero remarkably well.
