While it has been 25 years since the original series debuted, Batman Beyond may be making a major return through an animated film thanks to an artist who worked on the Spider-Verse films.

Batman Beyond is one of the most beloved series from the original DC Animated Universe. However, after the series in that universe concluded, there has been little mention of Terry McGinnis in any media outside the comic books.

Fans have been craving for the character to make a comeback, especially on the big screen. While that may seem very far away, there were recent attempts to bring McGinnis to the big screen by an artist of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Yuhki Demers, who is an artist from the Spider-Verse movies, stated that he and Patrick Harpin (My Dad the Bounty Hunter) pitched a Batman Beyond animated film to Warner Brothers five months ago. After pitching the storyline and some concept art (which you can see below), the studio's opinion allegedly went from a 'no way' to a 'maybe.'

As shown below in the amazing concept art, the film would have had a similar artistic style to the Spider-Verse films that Demers worked on, featuring McGinnis suiting up in the batsuit and fighting criminals such as Inque who is portrayed chasing Batman in one of the images.

While it is exciting to discuss a Batman Beyond animated feature film, it will be interesting to see whether it actually gets greenlight and made. Demers stated that the studio listened to the pitch due to their enthusiasm and did not see the possibility of making a Beyond movie.

Demers states that the goal is to get to James Gunn and pitch it to him. Gunn has shown a fondness for animated projects, with the new DC cinematic universe even starting with an animated Creature Commandos series.

Fans also seem keen on the film, with the love for the Batman Beyond character and the success of the Spider-Verse movies sure to play in the favor of the film being made. However, it is hard to see where it fits into DC's plans unless it becomes another Elseworlds film such as The Batman and Todd Phillips' Joker.

It will be intriguing to see whether the film gets made, as the concept art alone is enough to excite fans. The last time McGinnis was seen in media outside the comic series was his 1999 series Batman Beyond, which ran for 52 episodes. He also made a couple of appearances in Justice League Unlimited.

The character is set to return in the Tomorrowverse film Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Two, although it is unknown what size role the character will have. Only time will tell if the Batman Beyond movie will be made, but it would be brilliant to see the character of Terry McGinnis return once again.
