Holy Gotham revival, Batman fans!

Get ready to dive back into the shadows of Gotham City because, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, Bruce Timm, the mastermind behind the iconic Batman: The Animated Series, is bringing us a brand new twist on our beloved Dark Knight with Batman: Caped Crusader. And the best part? It's all set to bless us on Prime Video this August.

First off, can we talk about how they’re shaking things up? The show is throwing it back to the 1940s - no computers, no cell phones, just pure vintage noir vibes. Gotham's going to look sleek with those classic cars and that retro architecture, making it a full-blown trip down memory lane to the original Batman comics era. And this sets it apart from the DC Animated Universe shows that, while inspired by classic art deco designs in Batman: The Animated Series also took place in a very modern world in later installments like The New Batman Adventures.

But the real treat here is our new Harley Quinn - the queen of mischief has been totally reimagined as Asian American, stepping out on her own, far from the shadow of the Joker. It’s about time Harley got her spotlight, and in this version, she's not just tossing pies - she’s a legit psychiatrist in Gotham, even crossing paths with Bruce Wayne himself. Could this get any cooler? Bruce Timm says Batman in this series is "really weird" and more "Batman" than "Bruce Wayne." Like, he’s not just the brooding guy in a cape - he’s basically Batman 24/7, even when he’s pretending to be his billionaire alter ego.

And it’s not just Harley who’s getting a makeover - classic villains like Catwoman and Clayface are going back to their roots with looks inspired by their earliest comic appearances. Catwoman's pulling inspiration from the glamorous Barbara Stanwyck, mixing fun with a dash of danger, while Clayface taps into old-school horror vibes.

So get ready, Bat-fans, because Batman: Caped Crusader is set to redefine our view of the Bat-verse with a blend of old-school style and fresh new twists. Gotham City, here we come!

Batman: Caped Crusader will dive onto our screens on Amazon Prime Video on August 1.
