This is, without a doubt, the best news I've received today. I can't even (or odd, for that matter).

After waiting for what felt like light-years, the Star Trek: Section 31 movie with the most badass and incredible lady, Michelle Yeoh, is finally happening! And it's not just a movie with her – it's a Michelle Yeoh-led movie. I'm literally over the moon, or rather, the Alpha Quadrant.

First things first, Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Georgiou is just iconic. She was amazing in Star Trek: Discovery, and now she's getting her own movie, which will shine a brighter light on Georgiou and her very complicated backstory. Speaking of story, the plots sounds pretty intriguing already – Georgiou having to protect the United Federation of Planets while dealing with her past? That's the kind of complex, layered storytelling that makes Star Trek so special.

And the cast - nothing short of insanely talented folks like Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson, Kacey Rohl, and more. This lineup is like the Avengers of space drama. Each one of them is so talented, and I can't wait to see what they bring to the Star Trek universe. It's going to be epic, I just know it.

It has been reported by TVLine that production has started in Toronto. I wish Scotty could beam me there right now so I could catch a glimpse of the action. Imagine walking down the street and bumping into the crew of Section 31 - I'd probably faint!

Executive producer Alex Kurtzman's statement is a solid reason to get excited: "We welcome our incredible cast of new characters as they join our beloved Michelle Yeoh on her next wild adventure across the Trek universe.” Michelle Yeoh and Star Trek in the same sentence makes 5-year-old, TNG-watching me squeal out of joy. And the team behind this – Craig Sweeny, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Aaron Baiers, and everyone else – they're like the Starfleet of TV production. They're going to make this movie something really special, I can feel it in my Trekkie bones.

Michelle Yeoh has been so busy with all these amazing projects like Shang-Chi, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and more, and now she's coming back to Star Trek to lead this movie - this is a testament to her incredible talent (and excellent scheduling) and the appeal of the Star Trek universe.

No, there's no release date yet, but who cares?

It's happening, and it's going to be available on Paramount+. I'll be counting down the days, hours, minutes until I can stream this gem. Star Trek: Section 31 is going to be a groundbreaking addition to the Star Trek saga, and I am so ready to beam up for this adventure.
