It was an amazing year for superhero TV shows in 2023. There was such a good mix of returning shows, new shows, and even a few superhero shows with their final season. To cap the year off, we shared a list of seven of the best superhero TV shows of the year.

If you're been reading Bam Smack Pow for years, you know how much we care about The Flash. It's one of our favorite shows, and so to kick the list of the best superhero shows off one final time, it's The Flash!

The Flash season 9 premiered on The CW on Feb. 8, 2023. We'd known for a while that season 9 would be the show's final season, but it hit quite hard that this was really the final season premiere after everything we'd been through with Barry, Iris, and Team Flash over eight seasons.

In The Flash, Barry Allen, an investigator with the Central City Police Department, is struck by lightning bolt courtesy of the particle accelerator at STAR Labs and develops superspeed. Barry begins working with the team at Star Labs, also known as Team Flash, to stop criminals and other metahumans in Central City.

Was The Flash season 9 one of its best seasons? Probably not. There were a lot of good things that happened, and it was clear the show had hit its stride quite a while ago. We ranked the ninth season as the worst of its nine seasons, and it's been clear for a while that the show's best days were behind it. Still, it was great to see Barry and Iris finally get the ending they deserve, even if things weren't as nicely tied up for other characters.
