The Marvels is the sequel to Captain Marvel, and Brie Larson returns as Captain Marvel, alongside Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, and a great cast. Unfortunately, The Marvels, at least in terms of the box office, is one of the year's most disappointing movies.

In the movie, Captain Marvel works with Captain Monica Rambeau (Parris) and Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel (Vellani) to stop Dar-Benn (Ashton) and save the world.

Overall, it definitely pains me to include The Marvels on the list. It's easily the best or second-best movie on this list, and it's not exactly fair how much criticism this film has received. I think we all know what's really going on here, but that's for another day. The kicker is fans didn't pay for tickets, and that's what makes The Marvels disappointing. In terms of story and overall entertainment value, writer and director Nia DaCosta delivers a hit.
