Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

  • Release Date: July 12, 2023
  • Director: Christopher McQuarrie
  • Cast: Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, and Henry Czerny
  • Global Box Office: $568 million

It's hard to imagine a movie that makes nearly $600 million could be considered a box office bomb, right? I don't know that they're really losing that much money on Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, but it appears that everyone expected this movie to make more money at the box office.

Dead Reckoning is the lowest-grossing Mission: Impossible movie since Mission: Impossible 3 in 2006. Coming off Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018, which grossed $800 million, Dead Reckoning looked like another massive hit. But, it's rumored budget was nearly $300 million for this movie without promo included. Yikes!

Don't worry, though, there's another Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning part of the film in the works. The eighth Mission: Impossible movie, formerly called Dead Reckoning Part Two, was scheduled to be released in July 2024, but the movie has been delayed until May 23, 2025. We'll see if the Memorial Day 2025 release is better for this franchise.

That's the list of box office bombs of 2023! Again, I enjoyed a lot of these movies. They simply didn't make as much money in the box office as they were expected to. We'll see which movies make the list in 2024.
