Breaking down The Boys’ characters' chances of surviving the season 4 finale
By Mark Lynch
At times, The Boys can be like Game of Thrones. Never get attached to someone you like because they’ll die. With the series ending after season 5, the likelihood of someone important dying is higher. Even your favorite hero or villain. With that in mind, here are the main characters from season 4 of The Boys and their chances of survival.
Billy Butcher
There’s a chance Buther doesn’t survive the season 4 finale, but not a big one. Besides him being popular, Homelander and Butcher haven’t had their big fight. Homelander alluded to it in the first episode of the season for a reason. It’s something the fans want that didn’t happen in the comics.
Chance of death: 50%
The Boys
None of the other members of The Boys are in danger of dying especially if Butcher dies. They'd have to carry on without him. The only person with a chance of dying is Annie and that’s only to make Hughie understand Butcher’s anger and dedication to killing supes.
Chance of death: 10%
Victoria Neuman
This is the trickiest one on the list. Victoria Neuman has been outspoken to everyone including Homelander. Her speech during Tek Knight’s Eye Wide Shut party saved the day and Homelander probably hated that. He had a chance to be the center of attention and failed. That’s enough for him to kill her.
Chance of death: 60%
Robert Singer
There’s no chance he survives. Not only did he die in the comics, but most of the characters Jim Beaver plays have died. This won’t change.
Chance of death: 99%
The Deep
The Deep is destined to have a terrible life. That means surviving when everyone else doesn’t. In the end, he’ll have the same fate as his comic book counterpart. He’ll be rebranded and put on another team.
Chance of death: 0%
Firecracker
Thankfully, she’s not going to make it. Firecracker is the worst. Everything we’ve seen her do promotes hatred and violence and she’s shown no remorse for her actions. The only question is if Homelander or Hugie kills her.
Chance of death: 100%
Sage
Sage is another 50/50 guess because she may want to die. The pain from the constant lobotomies and her brain growing could be too much for her to handle. This could have led to her planning her death, but leaving the world better than when she was there. Or maybe she survives and escapes to an island after finding a way to rid herself of her powers.
Chance of death: 50%
A-Train
Unfortunately, he’s not going to make it. A-Train finally learns what it means to be a hero right as he dies. The audience should expect him to die a hero’s death protecting someone from Homelander. Most likely on camera.
Chance of death: 90%
Ashley Barrett
Ashley Barrett’s story ends way. She becomes the CEO of Vought International and the scapegoat for everything that’s happened. She doesn’t get a happy ending but she doesn’t die either. However, it would be nice if she ended up on top.
Chance of death: 0%
Black Noir
Black Noir will die thanks to Sage. She played The Deep into loving her leading to him killing Ambrosius. All that’s left is for her plan for Black Noir (who also fell in love with her). It’s a shame since actor Nathan Mitchell (who plays Noir) finally got a speaking role in The Boys. Expect death by Homelander.
Chance of death: 80%
Ryan
Ryan Butcher will escape his father's neediness and be raised by Stan Edgar and possibly Victoria Neuman (if she survives). Ryan has shown moments of being like his father, but never fully committed. If anyone deserves a chance at happiness, it’s him.
Chance of death: 0%
Homelander
Homelander lives to be awful for another season. Does that mean he remains all-powerful or even at the same level he is? Doubtful. The virus Frenchie is cooking up will be used on Homelander and depower him or drop him down a notch. If that happens, Butcher and Homelander’s fight will be even (ish).
