Colman Domingo rumored as replacement to Jonathan Majors as Kang

As a huge Kang fan, I've had my feelings all over the place ever since initial talks about Jonathan Major's accusations came forward.

On one hand, I'm super sad to see Jonathan Majors leave the role. He truly brought something special to the role of Kang the Conqueror with his unique quirks as Victor Timely, the different demeanors of the members of the Council of Kangs, and as the charming yet very punchable He Who Remains. It's a bummer that things went south for him, but let's be real - his actions were pretty serious, and Marvel's decision to move on makes complete sense (they should have taken care of this recasting earlier, in my opinion). Regardless of the audience's suffering, you gotta be responsible for your actions, right?

Now, Daniel Ritchman taking to Patreon and X to report that Colman Domingo may soon be stepping into Kang's shoes – that's actually pretty cool.

For those who aren't familiar with him, Domingo's a phenomenal actor. His range in HBO's Euphoria and AMC's Fear The Walking Dead would be perfect to playing someone as layered and, quite frankly, complicated as Kang. And his portrayal of Bayard Rustin in Rustin also makes his case for the role even better. So, if this rumor's true, it's pretty exciting to think about what he could bring to the table as Kang. A fresh perspective, maybe some new flavor? Could be amazing!

But let's not get ahead of ourselves – it's still just a rumor, after all. Daniel Richtman is a reliable insider, but until Marvel officially confirms it, I'm keeping my excitement in check. We've seen how these rumors go - they're like rollercoasters, and Marvel has taken us on quite a few in the last year.

And as for the MCU's plans shifting – that's classic Marvel, always keeping us on our toes. Dropping the ever-so-cool title Avengers: Kang Dynasty for Avengers 5 and bringing in Michael Waldron means we're in for something different, and I'm here for it. But I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't miss the Kang-centric phase. Majors set a high bar with his portrayal in Ant-Man: Quantumania and Loki.
