After the success of Batman: Caped Crusader's first season, the second season is sure to be just as solid. While the scene at the conclusion of the season finale sets up a major villain for the second season, Batman will likely be meeting a number of other new characters.

The world of Batman: Caped Crusader is based in the 1940s and could bring in some very interesting takes of classic DC characters. Season 1 brought us some interesting takes on characters such as Harley Quinn, Clayface, The Penguin and Two-Face, making some key changes to many that enhanced the story a great deal.

A number of villains and heroes should make an appearance in season 2 as Batman's vigilante career develops and he takes on Rupert Thorne's empire. There are some characters that would benefit from the 1940s world and others that could get new and exciting takes based on the aesthetic of the series.

Ra's Al Ghul

One of Batman's most notable villains, Ra's Al Ghul has tried to recruit Batman into his League of Assassins in most iterations, and failing that he has gone to war with him. Often dubbing him "detective," Ra's has a deep respect for Bruce Wayne, but also knows that they are on opposite sides of conflict more often than not.

Batman's relationship with Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, Talia Al Ghul, is also an interesting one as they are often romantically linked, with most of it being one sided from Talia. This eventually leads to the conception of Damian Wayne, the fourth Robin.

Having Ra's appear in Batman: Caped Crusader would create a formidable foe for this young version of Batman and it would be interesting to see an organization such as the League of Assassins operate in the corrupt ridden Gotham City. His introduction could also allow for a conflict with Rupert Thorne as well if Ra's plans on taking over Gotham City, creating a turf war for our Caped Crusader to deal with.

Scarecrow

With his alter ego being mentioned in the series already, it would be hard not to include Jonathan Crane on this list. The Scarecrow is one of Batman's best villains and his character would definitely fit the gritty and mature aesthetic of the series.

Bruce Timm also gave us one of the best designs for Scarecrow in The New Batman Adventures (which made some changes to the original DCAU design), making for a gritty noir looking villain that would have fit perfectly in the world of Batman: Caped Crusader.

A major part of Batman's progression throughout this first season was dealing with his past traumas, often choosing to avoid them even though the events have deeply affected him. Having to deal with a villain like Scarecrow would force Bruce to confront his fears and past traumas and make for a very different kind of battle for this Batman.

Taking on the Scarecrow wouldn't just be physical or detective work, but a psychological battle for our hero. This series has already managed to make Harley Quinn cold and terrifying, imagine what they could do with Scarecrow.

The Question

One of the first heroic characters to enter the world of Batman: Caped Crusader should be the Question. His whole schtick is detective work and conspiracy theories and he would fit really well in the noir world of this series.

The Question has not been showcased much outside of comics (besides his beloved run in Justice League Unlimited), meaning an appearance here would help the character gain even more of a following. As well as that, his character would be welcomed for a number of reasons.

He would be an interesting team-up for Batman and put further emphasis on the detective aspects of the show. The addition of the Question would also help expand the series out into the wider DC Universe while also feeling quite organic and not instantly bringing powered superheroes right away.

Green Arrow

Another famous Justice League team member that would fit the tone of the series would be Oliver Queen, better known as the Green Arrow. The addition of the Emerald Archer would help the show stay grounded, while also expanding the DC Universe.

Having Oliver Queen come to Gotham to investigate a case or take on an an enemy of Batman would certainly make for a great team up. The two heroes could also be rivals in the series, in both their superhero alter egos and their civilian identities, as the arrival of the billionaire from Star City could shake things up for Bruce Wayne.

Regardless of how the show would portray him, Green Arrow would be a welcome addition to the series and help slowly introduce the audience to a wider DC Universe.

The Riddler

One of Batman's most famous rogues, it is likely that the series could introduce us to this universe's version of the classic villain The Riddler at some point. Edward Nygma provides Batman with a intellectual challenge as opposed to a physical threat, using riddles to give The Dark Knight hints as to how to solve the crime.

The character can be portrayed as either campy or menacing, with both portrayal types having their own appeal. While the campy version of the character is beloved, a menacing version such as the portrayal by Paul Dano in 2022 movie The Batman would suit the aesthetic of the series (and remember, that film's director, Matt Reeves, is one of the show's executive producers).

A Riddler who pulls off a menacing vibe, being intimidating and calculating along the way would be the perfect challenge for this Batman and fit the style the show is going for. It would allow Batman to test his deduction skills further and showcase his true detective side as he tries to stop whatever scheme the villain conjures up. And as Caped Crusader is all about Batman's detective work, The Riddler could truly complement the series.
