Absolute Power changed the DC Universe (seriously)

The Absolute Power finale has changed things and ruined lives in DC Comics. It also brought back a huge superhero team with the title of a former animated series.

During the DC Comics crossover Absolute Power, Amanda Waller made the world think heroes were committing crimes worldwide. Then, her Task Force VII stole powers from heroes and villains across Earth Prime and kept them for themselves. To make things worse, Waller was helped by Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Batman’s android, Failsafe. Of course, the heroes eventually fought back. With Nightwing leading, the heroes attacked Waller and took their planet back.

Now that the series is over, here's everything you need to know about the finale of Absolute Power and how it affects DC Comics.

Green Arrow: Double Agent

It was obvious that Green Arrow wasn’t a traitor, but there were times when it looked like he believed in Waller’s mission. There was a reason for that. J'onn J'onzz put an implant in Oliver’s mind that made him join and trust Waller. Once it timed out, he began his plan to fight back.

Without Green Arrow's assistance, John Starr's tech wouldn't have been found and adapted to give everyone their powers back.

Powers are switched

Green Arrow, Batman, and John Starr’s weapon removed Task Force VII's powers. However, not everyone's gifts went to the right people. For example, Plastic Man was turning invisible instead of stretching and Black Canary has laser eyes instead of her sonic scream.

We can guess that everyone’s gifts will return to their rightful owners. In the meantime, seeing how everyone adapts should be fun.

Is Dreamer immortal?

During Absolute Power No. 2, Dreamer died to help the heroes escape. It looked like this would stick since she isn’t as popular as Wonder Woman or Superman. Not only did she return, but her resurrection made sense.

Jon Kent kept her alive in his dreams because he couldn’t let her go. That (as said in Absolute Power No. 4) pulled her into the dreamscape and gave her time to heal. That means, as long as she’s remembered, she can’t die.

Amanda Waller loses her memories

Amanda Waller was defeated, but everyone knows she’s still dangerous. She knows enough secrets to bribe herself out of Belle Reve (where she was ironically imprisoned). Well, she'd be able to if Dreamer didn’t solve that problem. Dreamer didn’t erase the secrets, but Amanda Waller can't access them.

Will this last? Who knows. Let’s see if Waller eventually remembers and blackmails her way out of Belle Reve or finds another way to escape. I think she’ll be broken out by someone who believes in her cause. Thus starting The Cult of The Wall.

Multiverse is cut off

Amanda Waller tried to use villains from other Earths to help her in case she lost control. Thanks to Hal Jordan and Barry Allen, they couldn't get across. Unfortunately, the only way to do this was to cut off access to the multiverse.

It worked, but there won’t be any traveling to alternate Earths, at least for a while. Not even Wally West can vibrate his way to another universe. Plus, Barry Allen lost his powers in the process.

The Justice League returns

After things settle down, Green Arrow calls Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman for a meeting. They’re justifiably upset that Arrow didn’t tell them his plan. People were hurt, powers were swapped, and Red Tornado may be irreparable.

However, Oliver brings up a good point saying that there was no one he could call since the Justice League disbanded. That’s when Batman shows Green Arrow the plans for the Justice League Watchtower. The next page says things will continue in Justice League Unlimited.

Does the world believe the videos?

This wasn’t part of the story, but it’s easy to guess that not everyone believes what Nightwing and Air Wave showed the world. The media has lied to the people in the comics before. Some will think Amanda Waller’s confession was doctored and her AI videos were the truth leading to people not trusting heroes.

How bad it gets remains to be seen. However, this writer believes we’ll see the Cult of The Wall (Amanda Waller) soon. If that happens, Bam Smack Pow will report it.
