DC Comics reunites Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison as the Gotham Sirens return

If you're a fan of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, there's good news for you. DC Comics is reuniting the Gotham City Sirens for a four-part mini-series.

Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman are three of DC Comics' most popular characters and they all come from Gotham City. It makes sense that they’d be put together on a team. Together, they form the Gotham City Sirens.

The last time they were together was over a decade ago and DC Comics says enough of that. In August, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy’s ongoing series will be on hold, and a month-long four-issue mini-series Gotham City Sirens mini-series will take their place.

DC Comics reports that writer Leah Williams will be joined by artists Daniel Hillyard, Brandt & Stein, and Matteo Lolli will head this likely action and quip-packed mini-series. They’ll take the trio against a (and this is serious) “cowboy-henchmen sensation that’s sweeping the nation” called the Nasty Boys. There will also be appearances by White Rabbit and semi-newcomer, Punchline.

It may seem like a random time to bring this team back, but there’s usually a reason for a mini-series. Of course, all three women are insanely popular and not just amongst comic book fans. They're all household names and pop culture icons. However, this could be a preemptive move for things to come in comic books and on Max’s Harley Quinn.

During the season 4 finale of Harley Quinn, Catwoman gets Harley, Batgirl, and Poison Ivy to come together. Together, they're going to solve the crime of what happened to Nightwing's dead body. Since Harley Quinn is released yearly (and season 5 hasn't premiered yet), an announcement for the next season could coincide with the comic book mini-series.

The other option is an ongoing Gotham City Sirens series. If the mini-series is well received, fans will demand more. It happened recently with Spider-Boy in Marvel Comics. With these incredible characters and an even better creative team, we won’t wait ten years to see the Gotham City Sirens again.

Gotham City Sirens No. 1 goes on sale August 7 with the comics scheduled to be published weekly.
