4 DC characters who definitely won't be back in the DC Universe

The DC Universe will start a new era for DC movies, but don't be expecting to see these DCEU characters return to the silver screen.

It's a time of change for DC on the silver screen. James Gunn and Peter Safran have come in as the heads of the newly-formed DC Studios and are planning to launch a new DC Universe full of heroic movies and TV shows. That means that it's over for the DC Extended Universe, which has produced multiple films over the past decade.

The DCEU's first outing was technically 2013's Man of Steel but it wasn't acknowledged as a shared universe until the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice three years later. From there, we got the likes of Wonder Woman, Shazam!, Aquaman, The Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and more as the DCEU built itself out. But a series of production issues, financial failures and new ownership at Warner Bros. has led to its premature end.

But not all of the DCEU will disappear. The Flash has laid the groundwork with the reset to write certain characters out, but we know that others will return. John Cena will return as Peacemaker in the second season of the anti-hero's eponymous show, along with the supporting characters. We also know Viola Davis will be back as Amanda Waller.

That said, we also know that certain DC characters won't be back. At least not in Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters. With that, let's find out who they are.
