4 DC characters who definitely won't be back in the DC Universe

The DC Universe will start a new era for DC movies, but don't be expecting to see these DCEU characters return to the silver screen.

3. Ben Affleck's Batman

This one won't come as a surprise to you. James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe is doing away with the vast majority of the DCEU's heroes and that includes the Dark Knight himself. So, yes, we have already seen the last of Ben Affleck's Batman.

If you've been keeping up with the DCEU movies, you probably know that Batfleck's supporting role was indeed Affleck's final time playing the role. The actor had played Batman since 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and the theatrical version of Justice League. After the tumultuous production on the latter, he decided it was time to move on from the Caped Crusader, but he agreed to shoot new scenes for Zack Snyder's Justice League cut and The Flash to officially bid the role farewell.

Ben Affleck had all the potential in the world as Batman but he never really got to showcase it due to the lacklustre movies he took part in. While the Snyder Cut of Justice League hinted at that potential, fans were hoping to see that solo movie someday. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, as Batfleck's journey has come to an end.

Even if the DC Universe wasn't happening, Ben Affleck's time as Batman sounded like it was over. The launch of the new shared universe is just the confirmation.
