4 DC characters who definitely won't be back in the DC Universe

The DC Universe will start a new era for DC movies, but don't be expecting to see these DCEU characters return to the silver screen.

2. Michael Keaton's Batman

This is a real unfortunate one. Michael Keaton is, without question, the greatest actor to ever play Batman, and he got a chance to return to the role in The Flash. That was supposed to be the beginning of a long-term stint for him but with the cancellation of Batgirl and the new direction at DC Studios, those plans were dropped.

Look no further than The Flash's senseless ending scene, which saw a very different actor play Bruce Wayne. The original version of that scene had Keaton back in the role, implying that he would be the DCEU's main Batman going forward. And honestly, that would have been so much better than what we got.

While Keaton's return as Batman certainly worked as a one-time appearance in an alternate timeline, Bat-fans are upset at the fact that they have been robbed of a more long-term role for the classic Dark Knight. But with the DC Universe bringing in a new Batman in The Brave and the Bold, the Flashpoint timeline will remain a standalone one-off that was erased from existence by the end of the movie.

Oh, what could have been.
