5. Aquaman

Aquaman holds the unfortunate honor of being the hero to close out the DCEU, as his sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the final chapter in the DC shared universe. But Arthur Curry's story began long before that, with appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and both versions of Justice League to his name, as well as his self-titled movie.

If you read our Avengers ranking, you'll know that we pointed out the similarities between Aquaman and Ant-Man in that they are both overlooked and underrated heroes who don't get enough credit. While the MCU found strength in leaning into that for Ant-Man, the DCEU found strength in leaning away from it, turning Aquaman into a badass - by showing us what he was always capable of.

Aquaman has enhanced strength and speed due to his origins as a human-Atlantean hybrid. He's also incredibly resilient, with his enhanced durability meaning that he can hold his own against bigger, badder threats such as Steppenwolf. But that's only when he's on land; when he's in the water, he's essentially unstoppable.

And yes, like the rumors say, he can indeed talk to fish. And contrary to popular opinion, that's pretty darn cool.
