Deadpool and Wolverine's biggest cameo may have just been confirmed

It sounds like one of Marvel's most ambitious cameos ever could be about to happen in Deadpool and Wolverine.

As the summer draws near, excitement increases for what might just be the biggest movie of the season: Deadpool and Wolverine. The third movie in the Deadpool franchise (but don't call it Deadpool 3!) is the first to be produced by Marvel Studios, and will thus see the character incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's also a huge deal for X-Men fans, as it brings back Hugh Jackman's Wolverine from the Fox film saga.

In a movie like this one (not-to-mention the fact that this is part of the MCU's Multiverse Saga), the opportunities for cameos are endless. Some have already been confirmed, while others have been heavily rumored.

The one that has been most speculated about, however, is global superstar Taylor Swift, who is rumored to appear as Marvel Comics character Dazzler in the film. It's been at the forefront of many Deadpool and Wolverine discussions among fans, and it isn't hard to see why - because the prospect of the biggest music superstar in the world appearing in cinema's biggest franchise is pretty exciting. And now fans are more convinced than ever that it could happen.

Deadpool and Wolverine director doesn't deny Taylor Swift cameo

Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his upcoming MCU movie. During that discussion, the rumored Taylor Swift cameo was once again mentioned to him, and he responded humorously:

"I can't even believe that you would dare ask me a question that you know I can't answer. All of America knows I can't answer that."

Though Levy didn't confirm or deny Swift's involvement in the movie, his attempt to dance around the question has understandably raised some eyebrows. Sure, the idea of the Swifties going to see the movie regardless of whether Taylor actually appears in it would be a good thing for the movie's box office, but in today's day and age of the internet, they would find that out pretty quickly when it comes out (and thus many wouldn't go and see it if she isn't, in fact, making an appearance).

The lack of a direct answer has only increased speculation as to whether she's in it. After all, Taylor Swift isn't a typical Marvel star, so the rumor that she's cameoing in an MCU movie is pretty out-of-left-field anyway, and that would make it an easy one to deny if it weren't true. The fact that he didn't deny it has indeed made the internet think that she will be appearing. Honestly, I can see why, too.

The rumors of Taylor Swift's appearance in the movie first began last year after various scoopers suggested she would be playing Dazzler. After that, Swift herself appeared at a football game alongside stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Now, Swift is close friends with Reynolds' wife Blake Lively, and Deadpool and Wolverine filming was taking place at the time, but it only fuelled the rumors of her appearing in the movie further.

The film's marketing has since leaned into the speculation, as one of the multiple movie posters released featured Deadpool and Wolverine friendship bracelets - which are a huge part of the Swiftie fan community. Genius marketing indeed, but could it be a sign of things to come?

We'll have to wait and see if Taylor Swift does show up as Dazzler in the MCU, but the lack of an outright denial may have been all the confirmation that fans need at this point.
