9 most disliked Harry Potter characters, ranked

1. Dolores Umbridge

Dolores Umbridge is truly the character Harry Potter fans dislike the most. Despite all of the awful things Lord Voldemort, Peter Pettigrew, and all those bad people did, Umbridge, who is played by Imelda Staunton in the movies, is the most loathsome. Her cruelty is nearly unmatched. Even Voldemort took care of the people who supported him for a time. Umbridge is all about Umbridge all of the time. She's a true narcissist and sociopath.

The wild thing about Umbridge is how big of a mark she left on Harry Potter, the whole story, and she was only included in two of the books and movies. She plays a huge role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix after replacing Mad Eye Moody at Hogwarts as the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor. She quickly climbs the ladder to the top of Hogwarts as Headmistress after Albus Dumbledore resigns his post to cover for Harry and Dumbledore's Army.

Despite all the authoritarian changes Umbridge made to Hogwarts, Umbridge making Harry write "I must not tell lies" with her special torture quill is the thing most fans will point to as one of Umbridge's truly terrible acts in that movie. Later, though, Umbridge gets so much worse in The Deathly Hallows as she rises the ranks of a corrupt Ministry of Magic and oversees the truly fascist Muggle Born Registration Committee.

So, yeah, not only do we dislike Umbridge; we actively hate her.
