Don't expect to see this highly anticipated cameo in Deadpool 3

We're all disappointed about this, but we recall Andrew Garfield's surprise in No Way Home and keep the hope alive for unexpected cameos in Deadpool 3.

Choo, choo! Get ready to board the confirmed-but-we-still-don't-believe-you train again!

Just when we thought the superhero reunion buffet we've been promised in Deadpool & Wolverine couldn't get any spicier, the lovely, talented, and original reason why I dye my hair this shade of red, Famke Janssen throws us a curveball straight out of left field. In an interview with Screen Geek, she officially announced she won't be joining the chaos and chimichangas in Deadpool 3.

Cue the collective sighs of Jean Grey fans everywhere.

Janssen played the complex and ridiculously powerful mutant Jean Grey in the 20th Century Fox X-Men saga and stole our hearts, made us cry, and then left us with our jaws on the floor. It would have been amazing to see how Jean and Wolverine handle each other in that setting, and I would love to have seen Deadpool talk his way into getting obliterated to ashes by the Phoenix and then slowly put himself back together, all while still cracking jokes.

Now, while we're nursing our disappointment with a pint (or two) of ice cream, let's remember that Famke's absence doesn't mean the end of the world. She's off to conquer new frontiers with a major Netflix project, Amsterdam Empire, which sounds like it's going to be a showstopper. She can also be seen in the upcoming ass-kicking movie Boy Kills World, which will hit theaters on April 26th.

Not for nothing, let's not forget the Andrew Garfield saga - playing coy right until the end and then bam - there he was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, swinging into our hearts and proving that in the superhero universe, anything is possible.

So, while we won't get to see Jean Grey and Wolverine rekindle their complex relationship (or engage in epic battles alongside Deadpool), let's hold onto a glimmer of hope. After all, if Andrew Garfield can keep a secret that big, who's to say there aren't more surprises waiting for us?
