8. Gotham's Batman

Few versions of Bruce Wayne have been as prepared to take on the role of Batman as David Mazouz's in Gotham. The Fox TV series gave us an in-depth look at the origins of The Dark Knight, beginning with the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne. It's an earth-shattering moment for young Bruce, who begins a journey towards heroism across the show's five seasons.

Gotham teased us with Batman many times throughout its run, even giving Bruce a Batman-esque mask (albeit without the ears) at one point. Every time, though, Bruce was well-prepared, taking on all comers as he learned more about the art of theatricality and the skills required to hold his own on the streets of the city.

That journey culminated in the series finale when he finally donned the cape and cowl after a five-year time jump. While the theatrical teases and silhouettes certainly suggested that he was the ultimate hero, it was only the beginning of a new journey for Bruce as Batman. And as a result, it would likely be some time before he achieved the legendary vigilante status he is known for in other adaptations. Adding to that, the Batsuit isn't all that great and it wouldn't be that protective during a fight. But again, we're just at the start of this Batman's journey. And what an exciting place that was to close out Gotham.
