The Man of Steel is one of cinema's biggest titans. We're going to see him back on the silver screen in all his glory whenever James Gunn's Superman: Legacy arrives in movie theaters in summer 2025. It's hoped that the movie will be successful so that it can launch the new DC Universe.

However, for as much success as the hero has seen on the big screen, he's enjoyed even greater success on the small one. From as far back as the first live-action Superman TV series Adventures of Superman to the critically-acclaimed current one Superman and Lois, Superman has an enduring appeal and presence that has made him perfect for television. Every era has its own version of the Man of Steel that someone has grown up watching on a weekly basis and that's pretty super in and of itself.

That's not even taking into account the countless animated outings we've seen from the character over the years. From the iconic Fleischer animated film shorts to the equally iconic Superman: The Animated Series, his cartoon adventures are as legendary as his live-action ones. And the story continues in the beloved recent outing My Adventures with Superman.

Yes, Clark Kent's trips into the sky on our TV screens are perhaps even more legendary than his journey onto the big screen. But just which generation's TV Supes is the greatest? Let's look back at all of the Man of Steel's TV outings and rank them.
