Corey Reynolds on Sherriff Mike Thompson and his future

Corey Reynolds, who plays the unflappable Sheriff Mike Thompson, is dishing out some cosmic gossip that's as spicy as a supernova. A charming lawman whose badge shines brighter than a shooting star, navigating the small-town shenanigans of Patience with a new deputy in town - that's Sherriff Thompson in a nutshell.

Reynolds, with a twinkle in his eye, teases us about the dynamic duo of Mike and Joseph. "Joseph was a no-brainer hire," he says, setting the scene for a partnership that's bound to be more electrifying than an alien zap gun. But there's a twist! According to Reynolds, things with Joseph might not be as they seem, leading us down a rabbit hole of intrigue and maybe, just maybe, a sprinkle of cosmic conspiracy.

Reynolds's got his theories, and he's not afraid to share them. He chuckles about Mike thinking Joseph "may not be exactly who we think he is," hinting at a mystery that's juicier than a Martian melon. Is Joseph an undercover government agent? Or perhaps a spy from another galaxy? The sheriff's got his suspicions, but aliens? That's where he draws the line - or so he thinks. Reynolds gives us a peek into Mike's mindset, balancing on the edge of skepticism and the undeniable weirdness unfolding in Patience. It's a hoot hearing him talk about how Mike grapples with the extraterrestrial evidence piling up like pancakes at the town diner, yet still can't quite bring himself to shout, "Aliens!"

But don't let the alien antics fool you; Reynolds' portrayal of Mike Thompson is as grounded as Earth itself, even when faced with the out-of-this-world. The real kicker? As more townsfolk start whispering about the celestial secrets of Patience, he teases how Mike's role as the protector of the community could evolve. Will he join the ranks of the "cool guy club" of alien know-it-alls, or will his duty to shield Patience from interstellar shenanigans lead him down a path no sheriff's manual has ever covered? Reynolds' insights into his character's journey in season 3 hint at challenges that are as complex as deciphering an alien language.

But one thing's for sure: whether he's facing down extraterrestrial threats or wrangling earthly troublemakers, Sheriff Mike Thompson is the hero Patience needs, even if he's a few light-years away from the truth.
