Fans hope to see The Apothecary Diaries return for season 2! (Here's everything we know so far)
The Apothecary Diaries has been nothing less of a smash hit amongst anime fans. With all the positive ratings and reviews, a season 2 renewal is likely, even though we know little about the future of the anime now.

The Apothecary Diaries is one of those anime titles that no one saw coming but everyone has now come to love so much that it's baffling.
The 2024 anime does a great job of mixing romance, slice of life, medicinal issues, and, of course, drama. But what we love most about this anime is the characters who we can't help but fawn over.
For example, the main character, MaoMao, is such a smart and capable young girl who never fails to save the day. She's also very loyal to her job to the point of showing up on days that she would rather not, all to ensure no one dies under her care. What's more, she has little to no interest in romance, making her just an empowering character to see on your screens.
Maomao is just a small testament to how well-made every aspect of this anime is, which is why it doesn't surprise us that fans would like to see The Apothecary Diaries return for a sophomore season. What are the chances of that happening, though? Here's what we know so far!
No confirmation on The Apothecary Diaries season 2...yet!
Despite its overwhelming popularity, we haven't heard much about The Apothecary Diaries being renewed for another season. Granted, anime go about the renewal process a little differently, as anime are usually heavily dependent on whether there is enough manga material to adapt. Even so, now and then, anime like this is renewed before the season is even over.
Don't worry, though! We don't think a lack of news is necessarily bad news!
Positive reviews could mean good things for season 2
A lack of renewal news shouldn't cause panic because, so long as the demand is there, the anime should be okay to return in some fashion.
As it stands today, The Apothecary Diaries has been receiving nothing but rave reviews from all ends of the world. IMDb users gave the show an impressive 8.6 out of 10 rating, while on Crunchyroll, users share a similar sentiment as they gave the show a perfect 5-star rating.
Crunchyroll users can't get enough of the hair-raising plot twists and great storylines. However, most have found such unique things to love about the show that it takes us aback by how much this show is loved by all.
"Though primarily a pseudo-historical mystery, Apothecary Diaries is an assortment of several genres that work rather well together, and has a great (if slightly odd) sense of humour," one Crunchyroll user reviewed. "As a huge fan of the LN and manga, I'm over the moon at this so-far-gorgeous adaptation and hope everyone gives it a go!"
Another comment read, "A loss for words. One of those 'I shouldn't have judged a book by the cover' experiences. Genuinely disappointed in myself for dismissing this. [...] This was a full-fledged, loved and cared for, memorable, lasting project, a drama that meets the broad criteria found in any popular, big industry hit while dodging all of the obnoxious anime tropes."
Of course, we agree wholly with all the sentiments above and would even argue reviews like these make season 2 a no-brainer!
Hopefully, Toho Animation Studio, the studio behind the anime, sees how much the fans love the anime, so that we can get our season 2 much sooner than later. In the meantime, all we can do is wait for some good news!
