There are 33 movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When you toss in Sony's movies and all the other non-MCU Marvel movies, there are 70 movies to choose from, and most of them are funny or comedic aspects and moments. Over the last decade, Marvel has released some truly funny movies.

Comedy is one way Marvel has differentiated itself from the other superhero movies of the era. Every time you go to a Marvel movie, you know there's going to be elements of comedy, high stakes, and camaraderie that just isn't present in other superhero movies. I'm looking at you, DC. But, that's what makes Marvel so good!

To celebrate all things comedy and Marvel, we picked the six funniest Marvel movies and ranked them!. Let's get the list started with a very polarizing movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

6. Thor: Love and Thunder

  • Release Date: July 8, 2023
  • Director: Taika Waititi
  • Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, and more

Look, Thor: Love and Thunder is not of of the best Marvel movies. In fact, it's one of the MCU movies that just should have been better. One of the things that Thor: Love and Thunder has going for it is that it's just really funny. It's probably too funny. It makes bold choices and swings purely for laughs, which, I admit, is refreshing in the MCU. I love the comedic elements of this universe, and Love and Thunder takes things to a whole new level.

The premise of Thor: Love and Thunder is a bit quirky. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the gang are forced to save a bunch of Asgardian children after they are kidnapped by Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). It's not super high stakes as we saw in Thor: Ragnarok, but Gorr is killing all the gods, and Thor makes it his mission to stop him, even if it interferes with Zeus (Russell Crowe) and his plans.

There are so many funny moments in Love and Thunder. Everyone loves the goats (no, I know not everyone!), but Korg is so good. Incredible comic relief! Gorr is such a good and hilarious villain. Bale plays it straight, but the character, his powers, and his mission is quite comical.

Overall, I just love Waititi's take on the MCU, especially the depiction of people in power throughout Ragnarok and Love and Thunder. Up next is Spider-Man: Homecoming!
