5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

  • Release Date: July 7, 2017
  • Director: Jon Watts
  • Cast: Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the funniest Spider-Man movie ever. It's even funnier than Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, although that has a few good comedy moments. Homecoming introduces audiences to the new Peter Parker (Tom Holland), a high school student. The movie skews younger than other Marvel movies and Spider-Man movies, but it's so much funnier than most MCU movies.

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter Parker, a teenager, begins using his new spider-like powers for good, but he gets caught up with the father of his classmate who is making weapons using tech from outside of Earth.

It's so great to inject a little comedy into the Spider-Man story. We get to see a young, vibrant Peter Parker who just can't help but get in his own way over and over again in hilarious ways. He almost always does the thing that he shouldn't do, which leads to some really good moments.

I also love the dynamic between Peter Parker, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), also known as Iron Man, and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Along with Peter's relationship with his best friends, MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon). Spider-Man: Homecoming is so much fun, but it also has enough moments of seriousness for enough drama and high stakes.
