DC might have one Batman already starring on the big screen, but another Dark Knight will soon be entering the mix as part of the new DC Universe! While a sequel to Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is in development with Pattinson returning to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader, DC is in the process of developing a second Batman film which will see a new actor taking on the role of the Dark Knight in Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be part of the main DC Universe timeline, while The Batman 2 will be part of DC’s Elseworlds line-up – a series of films set outside the prime DC Universe timeline. With a new Batman movie coming, fans have been speculating about which actor should step into the role next and there have been many names thrown into the mix including one of Hollywood’s biggest rising stars: Glen Powell.

Fans have honestly been clamoring for Powell to appear in a superhero movie and there really isn’t a better way to enter the mix than by playing one of the most iconic superheroes of all-time. Powell has the build for a superhero and we know he has the acting chops as well, so it’s easy to imagine him taking on a role such as Batman; however, thanks to a stunning new piece of concept art from one talented digital creator our dreams have become a reality!

Fan art imagines Glen Powell as Batman

With speculation growing over whether Glen Powell could enter the mix to play the next Batman, digital artist Josh “clements.ink,” has debuted an incredible new piece of concept art that imagines Powell in the role of Batman.

The jaw-dropping art sees Powell suiting up in Batman’s iconic cowl with two unique looks. The first piece of art features Powell suited up in Batman’s signature suit his face covered by the Dark Knight’s cowl, Powell’s jawline making a striking statement as the key feature seen from under the mask. Meanwhile, a second piece of art allows us to see Powell in the Batman suit without the cowl.

While simply fan art, the two images showcase just how perfectly Powell could fill out Batman’s signature Batsuit and make a compelling argument for why Powell should be considered for the role. It goes without saying that he could more than pull off both sides of the character, giving us a gruff and gritty Batman, and a charming, attractive Bruce Wayne.

Glen Powell is interested in playing Batman

Of course, part of the reasoning Glen Powell’s name has become associated with Batman in recent weeks is thanks to an interview Powell gave to GQ in which he expressed a clear desire to play the Dark Knight.

While Powell has hinted that a role within the MCU is not of interest to him, it seems Powell has always been a Batman fan and it’s his love of the character that has made him dream of someday playing the role. In fact, he already has an inspiration for the spin he’d take on the character and it seems his inspiration would be pulled from one of the most iconic portrayals of the character to ever grace the big screen!

“I was always a Batman guy. I would have a wild take on Batman,” Powell told GQ. “It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”

Funny enough, Powell happens to already share a connection with the character having played a background actor in The Dark Knight Rises and he also happens to have a long-standing history with Warner Bros. Discovery next appearing in this summer’s Twisters from the studio. Could those connections be all that’s needed for Powell to become a real contender to play Batman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Only time will tell, but the fact that Powell is one of the most sought-after actors in the game right now, has a strong desire to play Batman, and just so happens to have worked on many Warner Bros. Discovery films doesn’t exactly hurt his odds of someday suiting up as DC Comics’ most iconic hero!
