The X-Men are coming to the MCU. We still don’t quite know when, but we do know the iconic heroes are on Marvel’s radar and it seems that Marvel is hard at work in laying the groundwork for the X-Men to make their way into the MCU.

Rumor has it that production will begin on an X-Men movie in late 2025 which means it’s only a matter of time before Marvel starts assembling the actors who will bring the X-Men to life within the MCU. We’re not likely to get any kind of news about who Marvel might cast for this movie for many months to come, but that hasn’t stopped fans from taking to social media to share their thoughts on who should play the key characters from the team.

There’s no telling which characters will be involved when the X-Men make their MCU debut in a solo film, but we expect we’ll see most of the team’s iconic members including Cyclops. As a longtime leader of the X-Men, Cyclops is a pivotal character in the franchise and it’d be a shock if he wasn’t included in Marvel’s plans for the X-Men.

It goes without saying, there are many amazing actors who would be perfect for the role but fans have their eyes on one actor in particular: Glen Powell. Powell has been at the center of many fan cast conversations for years now with fans eager to see Marvel cast Powell in the role of Cyclops. He’s a perfect pick for the role and thanks to one talented artist, we now know what exactly he could look like if cast as Cyclops.

Marvel fan art shows why Glen Powell would be perfect as Cyclops

Clearly inspired by fans’ desires to see Glen Powell as Cyclops, digital artist Venomhology has debuted a jaw-dropping new piece of fan art that envisions Powell as the X-Men’s iconic leader. In the art, pictured above, Powell is transformed into Cyclops donning the character’s iconic blue and yellow X-Men suit.

Of course, if there is one thing that is most associated with Cyclops’ it's his visor and optic blasts. It’s only fitting that the art makes full use of the iconic aspects of the character by giving fans a true glimpse into what Powell’s Cyclops could look like by providing action to bring the concept art to life.

Seeing the art, it’s not hard to see why fans are so eager for Marvel to cast him as Cyclops. He absolutely is a spitting image of Cyclops’ comic-book likeness and he more than has the build to play a superhero. Perhaps through Powell, we could get a Cyclops that fans could get behind that fully celebrated the ironic heroes from the X-Men franchise rather than pushing him into the background as 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies did.

Glen Powell hasn’t met with Marvel, but it does appreciate fan casting

While fans have long hoped to see Glen Powell join the MCU, Powell has previously been very candid about the fact that he has not had any conversations with Marvel.

Back in August 2022 while promoting Top Gun: Maverick, Variety asked Powell about the casting rumors hinting that he was joining the MCU as Cyclops. At the time, Powell revealed there was no truth to the rumors, stating he didn’t even have a contact at Marvel.

“Before Comic-Con, everybody was like, “Dude, are you Cyclops?” No, I’m not. Nobody has called me. I don’t even have one contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about.”

Fast forward to 2023, rumors continued to swirl around Powell joining the MCU. While Powell did not have a better update for fans, he did express his gratitude to fans’s support which he called a humbling experience.

"It takes a long time to navigate this town, so for anyone to be like, 'Oh, he'd be great in this role,' it's humbling, it's great," Powell told Entertainment Tonight.

Although Powell has not met with Marvel, he’s never actually rejected the idea of playing a superhero which is a promising sign as there have been many actors who have made it clear they have no desire to appear in superhero films. Fans clearly want to see him enter the MCU and we know the X-Men are coming, so fingers crossed Marvel will take note of the interest among audiences and find a way to bring Powell into the fold!
